Recent Events

As many of you probably know, the real HMS Bounty recently met her end during Hurricane Sandy.

We also lost two of the ship's crew, including Claudene Christian, a descendant of Fletcher Christian, and Bounty's captain of 20 years Robin Walbridge, who remains missing.

This is a heartbreaking time for me, but much more so for the friends and families of the lost crew members. The HMS Bounty Organization has set up a relief fund. You can donate via paypal to or via their online store at the Bounty website, which has been linked on this page since the first comic.

Thanks for bearing with us. We'll get back to the comics later.

Climate Change

I've been posting any interesting naval history links I find over at the On the Bounty facebook group. You might want to check that out!

As well, in addition to mailing me any questions for the crew, you could always post some there, and I'll forward them along.

The Bounty crew are getting all metaphory and throwing their support behind the SOPA/PIPA blackout, largely because should SOPA pass, it puts all blogs and webcomics just like On the Bounty at risk from being yanked down with no due process.

I don't have to tell you how useful Wikipedia was in putting this comic together. (Yes, I also read a couple books.) Should SOPA pass, Wikipedia, which hosts user-generated general knowledge, could at any time be taken offline by any number of private companies for any number of real or imagined infractions. That's not what SOPA's for, but that's what SOPA will do. Don't let that happen.

If you head over to the On the Bounty facebook page you'll get a look at the new exclusive recruitment poster I just finished to help spread the word about Bounty.

I figure if it's good enough for Cochrane it's good enough for me.
